I got a new fur baby today. Drove 3 hours to pick up this handsome boy named Eddy. He is now my personal pet in training to be a pet therapy for children and veterans. He outweighs me by more than 10 lbs. check out the size of his paws.

FurBaby Story -- This is Lady, a 1 year old pocket Labrador (max 40-50) lbs. I am fostering her and training her for an organization I have been volunteering at for over 10 years called Shelter to Soldier (sheltertosoldier.org). We adopt shelter dogs and provide them for free to Post 911 TBI/PTSD Veterans (for life). It takes anywhere from 6 months to 18 months for her to be an accredited service dog. Anyway she is the sweetest girl and will make her Veteran very happy. She will participate in speed dating to find her ideal Veteran in about 6 months and then they will work together for 6 months before graduating as a team. This has been the most rewarding thing in my live and I am honored to see the growth of both the dog and Veteran through their journeys. Today I am 67 and so very grateful for the life I have led.

Today I had to put my fur baby Remington down due to health issues. I rescued him at age 3 and trained him to serve others (Veterans, children, elderly) as a pet therapy dog. He was loved by all and brought me (and many others) great joy in the mere 4 years together. RIP Remington.
