CREATIVITY ACTIVITY #1: Blurts and Affirmations

Make a blurts and affirmation list.

Blurts are any negative or self-critical thoughts that surface when you unleash your creativity. Your affirmations counteract these blurts by replacing them with positive, empowering statements that reshape your internal narrative. 

Examples:

  • Blurt: I always mess things up.

    • Affirmation: I am learning and growing every day.

  • Blurt: What I want doesn’t matter.

    • Affirmation: My desires and dreams are important.

  • Blurt: You’re just wasting your time.

    • Affirmation: Every creative act I pursue enriches my life.

The practice of replacing blurts with positive affirmations leverages neuroplasticity and can re-train our brain, turning negative self-talk into empowering beliefs!
