Hi all! This week, Iā€™ve been able to comfortably work out w/out shoes! Iā€™m still doing mostly low impact but have sprinkled some jumps in there as well. I believe what has really helped me since my fracture has been foot exercises given to me by my chiropractor. Strengthening my feet has helped me become more stable and confident. It has also alleviated a lot of my back and hip pain. Iā€™ve also adjusted my gait, as I read more about the importance of foot health. Iā€™ve done a deep dive into barefoot shoe options as well. Itā€™s been truly fascinating. I discovered that I was clenching my toes a lot as well. In response, Iā€™ve continued to strengthen my feet, walk barefoot while at home, wear toe spacersā€¦.and invested in a couple of zero drop shoes. Itā€™ll be a process in getting used to those shoes. I mean, I could talk for hours about the topic. LOL Itā€™s also got me thinking about shoe options for my kiddos - I mean, have you noticed how most kidsā€™ toes are more spaced out than most adultsā€™? Anyway. Iā€™m so excited about continuing to strengthen my feet and I just wanted to share my progress. Thanks to everyone who has supported me along my path to recovery!

I got some upsetting info yesterday. I knew I wanted to work out this morning to prep for the day. Itā€™s my sonā€™s bday and we have all the things planned. Starting the day with a workout eases the stress and anxiety, ya know? Well, I needed this workout even more today. The magic of M/BODY and Marnieā€™s meditation! I can enjoy celebrating my 9 year-old! What?! Enjoy the live today, all!

On most days, during my lunch break, I take a 15 min nap. It started during the early days of Covid. I continue to be a remote employee. Itā€™s 15 mins to rest my body and brain. Yoshi always joins me. Today she was extra snuggly. Iā€™m glad I was in the picture today.

I flipped the guide and did arms & abs/205 yesterday AM and yesterdayā€™s live this morning. Something Iā€™ve learned as I continue to heal from my foot fracture is that sweat can happen equally, if not more, from a low impact effort. I really loved yesterdayā€™s live and the multitude of options Marnie provided. Thank you, thank you!! Also, I love being on #deskcrew and connecting with all of you lovely peeps!

Ready to actually participate in my first live in a while! If thereā€™s standing work, Iā€™ll be ready with my happy shoes. šŸ˜‚

You all! I did yesterdayā€™s live this morning. I modified the hell out of the moves but it worked out. I cut out jumps, I used the chair for some cardio moves, wore shoesā€¦I completely took it easy and listened to my body. Prior to this morning, Iā€™ve been doing some Pilates as well as upper body strength workouts. I think this is the key for me, going forwardā€¦.using a variety of workouts to keep me strong and healthy. Side note: did a little retail therapy last night and found some fun Brooks shoes for half the price. Since Iā€™ll be wearing running shoes for the foreseeable future, I wanted to add in some variety. :-)

Hi all! Although I wonā€™t participate in lives for a while, Iā€™ll continue to cheer you all on!

Good follow-up with foot doc. Slowly transitioning to ortho shoe and then sneaker, hoping to be fully in sneaker in one month, for follow-up. Will return to boot if out running errands or on feet a lot a home. Iā€™m restricted to weights while seated or mat exercise. If I had a Peloton, I could do that šŸ˜‚ Down the line, he doesnā€™t recommend a lot of the barre exercises, specifically standing on one foot. No impact. I have evaluate how I participate in M/BODY down the line. The calcification around the fracture may take a year to get fully absorbed. Anyway, Iā€™ll get back to the mat in some capacity but am sticking to stretches videos now. Have fun today!

Hi all. So late but hereā€™s my board, 41/60 - much less than anticipatedā€¦but, such is lifeā€¦.with an injury. If Iā€™m being totally honest, Iā€™ve been struggling mentally/emotionally without my usual workouts and the rush of feeling so good after a good sweaty class. But, Iā€™m working through it. Iā€™m focusing on more mat Pilates work and some upper body weightsā€¦but still utilizing some of the M/BODY stretch classes. Hoping for good news on Monday! Iā€™ll take wearing the boot another month, allowing some weightā€¦.instead of crutches/total weight restriction.

So, Iā€™ve spoken to a few of you of my continued foot issues. It started in the summer. No break was noticed but I was put in an ortho shoe. Never felt 100% but I felt better. I just didnā€™t make it a priority to check back in with a doc.

After my husband and I went to NYC (walking everywhere!), there was more pain. I finally made an appt. Another X-ray was done showing that I had indeed developed a stress fracture and there is now calcification around the bone (you can see on the 2nd toe). I almost cried with the realization I couldnā€™t do all of the Marnie moves I love. I had been modifying but now cannot put weight on the foot. Iā€™m in an aircast now and will follow up in 2 weeks. But! There are floor workouts I can do, as well as stretches. Iā€™ll just see what I can do comfortably. Iā€™ll still work on the board, via non-physical daily activities.

All this to say - listen to your bodies!!!

A little late but wanted to chime in. Well, fave Marnie mantra is ā€œyou didnā€™t come this far to only come this farā€ but another is something I say to my kids when I drop them off at school - ā€œBe kind, be brave, have fun todayā€ - something I copied from Nick North, on IG. Spoke to him about itnd he was so excited about me dping so.
