What a unique class! It’s like an M/BODY version of a Tabata or HIIT class; alternating series of cardio dance and depth induced cardio with short stretch moves. But unlike tabata or hiit that can be frantic and induce spikes of cortisol for energy (love that description given in class) it is a supportive, but so so effective Marnified version.
This was a very cool class, originating from some people in the #mbodyglobalfam requesting a sweat AND stretch class. Marnie created some very cool choreography to bring both in 30 minutes, blending both with times of cardio bursts for more sweat and moments of holding a stretch and flowing through them. It was warm, sweaty, stretchy, and used only ourselves and the mat. Standing work with side jumps/steps, back curtsy lunges, and front knee up or kicks. Down on the mat for some stretchy plank dances. Hours later my inner thighs are singing and my shoulders are feeling it too, and my core and glutes feel some activation. It was paced, but not as quick as some sweat classes can be, but not as slow as some stretch classes. A very creative class and a great one when you want both sweat and stretch, or seeking a change up speed with a lovely flow. Enjoyed the class playlist as well (these are on Spotify, if you search for Marnie Alton’s profile, class playlists are posted for anyone to hear).
Oh the joy of rediscovering this class! I had forgotten I had saved it as a favorite. No equipment, but lots of wiggly meditative flow. Just the right amount of intensity to not spike cortisol and leave me feel gummy and relaxed. 10/10 as always, M!
Man, I forgot how fun this one was! See Monique's comment below for a very comprehensive perspective of what to expect. This class is a little closer to 40 minutes, but I only say that so you don't skip any of the stretches! The whole class flows together really seamlessly. There's stretch in the sweat and sweat in the stretch, and the playlist is excellent.
Loved this last part about "be the person who celebrates others' lights" I LOVED THIS!!! 100%

Normally I skip anything with stretch in the title (too slow for me) but since this was in the challenge I gave it a shot and really enjoyed it. Standing and on the mat but an easy one to do on a vacation!
